Disability Access for VS King William

Disability Access Statement - July 2018

The VS King William Guest House was built in the 1930's.

As your hosts we are here to make your stay as comfortable as possible in order to do that we believe that it is only fair to point out some of the limitations of this old Inn.

These limitations are intrinsic to the initial design of the property and will affect those of you who might need extra help with steps and stairs.

The VS King William has very limited availability (one room) to accommodate guests who are confined to wheelchairs  due to restrictions of space at the entrance and also in the hallway.

At this moment in time we only  have a very limited number of rooms on the ground floor. We encourage any customers who require these rooms to contact us in advance to request a ground floor room as visitors would need to be able to negotiate the steps and stairs [There is a small step up from the car park and a further step up to the entrance to the property and there are 12 steps to the first floor]. The staircase has a balustrade at one side. Neither the bedrooms nor the bathrooms [fitted with showers and one with a bath] have grab rails due to insufficient space.

The Apartment is set in a cobbled Courtyard away from the main property and we advise strong footwear as this is uneven due to the historic nature of the setting. Please also note that breakfast is served in the main building and there is a busy road to cross, which separates the apartment from the Bed and breakfast rooms.

The proprietors will afford every assistance to the disabled guests where necessary and this includes help at breakfast and with evacuation procedures in cases of emergency for those who have difficulty in moving, seeing or hearing.
